Clockwork Cardiac Bad Movie Retreat Episode 005 - War of the Planets

Sometimes in life, you have to take the bad with the good....sometimes you encounter a movie that is utter garbage but still entertaining, and sometimes you get a movie like this one, 1977's War of the Planets, an Italian Star Wars ripoff that could have given even the crew of the Satellite of Love a run for their money...

Clockwork Cardiac Bad Movie Retreat Episode 004 - They Saved Hitler's Brain

Sorry about the skipped week there...life got in the way.  I'm going to try to keep this weekly/biweekly for as long as I can.  Anyway, this week in the lab we explore one of the more notorious disembodied-head films, which started life in 1963 as "Madmen of Mandoras" but after some Frankensteining in of (painfully-obvious) extra footage, was reborn circa 1973 as the TV-movie "They Saved Hitler's Brain"  And when the pickled head of Der Fuehrer does the best acting in the film, you know you're in trouble...

Clockwork Cardiac Bad Movie Retreat Episode 003 - Little Shop of Horrors

This week in the lab, we review the first of hopefully many Roger Corman films with his early classic, 1960's horror/comedy "Little Shop of Horrors"...while it later spawned a popular musical, the original also has a lot going for it, including a brief-but-memorable performance from a very young Jack Nicholson!  The tweaks to the format continue, as I try to break up my own droning commentary with more clips from the film to help tell the story.  Enjoy!

Clockwork Cardiac Bad Movie Retreat Episode 002 - The Killer Shrews

I know I said originally I was going to make this a bi-weekly podcast, but I just couldn't resist putting up a new episode...I'll be doing some tinkering with the format over the next few shows, so please bear with me.

Anyway, for this episode we check out a bit of classic drive-in fare from 1959 called "The Killer Shrews" starring James Best of later "Dukes of Hazzard" fame, Ken Curtis from "Gunsmoke", and a whole slew of dogs in drag...enjoy!

We are on iTunes! Woo-HOOO!!!!

On Monday, after battling the iTunes bureaucracy over the size of my icon (which I had to redesign and am not terribly happy with at this point--it may ultimately change), I finally got it submitted and now, three days later, Episode 1 is officially up in the iTunes store!  For the moment, I'm going to make this show a bi-weekly one (that gives me time to watch a movie, organize my notes, take whatever sound bites I need, and record the episode in the midst of all of the other lunacy going on in my life), and the first six episodes are basically the show's test run.  If things become a bit less hectic, I may consider switching it to a weekly show.  In any case, to see this in the iTunes store gave me quite a euphoric feeling...I feel as though I am OFFICIALLY a podcaster now!

Clockwork Cardiac Bad Movie Retreat Episode 001 - Introduction and Robot Monster

Okay, this is going to be the first episode, so be kind...I may ramble on a bit, and I'm still getting used to the recording app.  Anyway, I talk a little about what you can expect from this podcast and then we get right into a dissection of the 1953 Phil Tucker classic "Robot Monster"  Enjoy!

Testing, 1...2...3....is this thing on?

Greetings, fellow B-movie lovers, and welcome to my humble blog.  It's pretty bare-bones right now, but it will ultimately be the supporting page for my podcast, where every two weeks (at least for openers) we'll explore the kind of movies that entertain in ways the filmmakers never intended....you can expect to hear me tear into the works of such low-budget luminaries as Ed Wood and Roger Corman, as well as explore bizarre and campy genres like Eurospy and Italian sci-fi.  I'm hoping to get the podcast up and running within the next week or so, so stay tuned...
